Are you a therapist working with clients through an interpreter?

Are you thinking about how to connect deeply with a client through an interpreter?

Do you feel unsure about managing the relationship dynamics in interpreter-mediated sessions?

Are you looking for practical guidance and reflective tools to support your work through interpreters?

If yes, I might be able to help!

Supporting communication through interpreters

In an increasingly multilingual world, many therapists are working with clients who require interpreters — but few receive any formal training in how to do this well. Working with an interpreter isn’t just about translation. It changes the dynamic of the therapeutic space, and can raise questions about boundaries, confidentiality, power, and emotional nuance.

Through my own research and experience, I’ve explored what really helps therapists feel confident, ethical, and attuned when working with interpreters. I’m passionate about helping practitioners build these skills — so they can offer inclusive, high-quality support to all clients, regardless of language.

My Research

My MA research focused on therapists’ experiences of working with interpreters in mental health settings — exploring both the challenges and the potential for connection when language is shared across three people in the room.
